Loralee Laycock, Choir Director
Loralee has been singing and playing the piano from a very young age. Over the years she has been involved with numerous choirs and musical productions that have taken her across Canada and throughout Europe. In her youth, she was an instructor for the Star Singers School of Performing Arts in Lethbridge for both voice and musical theatre. While attending university, Loralee continued to sing in choirs, and was an instructor at musical theatre summer camps for both the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Community College. In more recent years, she has sung with the Ariose Women's Choir in Edmonton, twice competing in the CBC National Choral Competition, and has been a soloist in Handel's Messiah. In addition to her choral experience, Loralee has taught private voice and piano lessons for many years. Since moving to Strathmore, Loralee, a mother of three, has had the opportunity to bring music to children, including her own, through preschool music training, children's church groups, and continued private voice and piano instruction. Having completed a B.Sc. in Family Science from Brigham Young University, and her Grade 8 Royal Conservatory piano, she combines her knowledge of child development with her training in music. She is excited to bring her training and life experiences to the children in this community, and provide them an opportunity to learn about choral music. Loralee hopes Strathmore Children's Choir will be just the beginning of a lifetime of musical opportunities for the children.
