Terrah Harper, Accompanist
Terrah Harper is originally from Rexburg, Idaho, and she moved to Strathmore with her husband and two-year-old son in August 2010. Since moving to Canada, she has discovered a love for Kinder Bueno bars, Caramilk, Tim Horton's hot chocolate and Dollarama. Canada has some great stuff! Music has always been an important part of Terrah's life. She's been playing piano for over 20 years, and she also plays the violin and viola. Terrah has been part of several orchestras and choirs, and she loves performing in ensembles. Terrah loves playing the piano, and her favorite aspect of the art is accompanying. She has been invited to accompany operas in Italy, and she has accompanied numerous musical theatre productions at Ricks College/Brigham Young University-Idaho and throughout southeast Idaho and Montana. She spent 2 summers as the primary accompanist at the Playmill Theatre in West Yellowstone, Montana, and she's had many opportunities to accompany various groups in her church congregation. Terrah had the great opportunity to accompany vocal majors and instrumentalists during college, where she played for master classes, juries and recitals. One of Terrah's favorite things to do was play in the pit orchestras for operas and musicals. Playing with a full orchestra was incredible! Terrah has accompanied award-winning choirs and singers at many festivals and competitions. In 1999, her choir toured Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia, as part of a choir competition, and they took top honors at the festival. Terrah loves all kinds of music, but she especially loves to play music from operas and musical theatre. Sight reading is one of Terrah's strengths, and it is not an exaggeration to say that Terrah can play any piece of music that is put in front of her. In addition to music, Terrah loves grammar; writing and editing; rainstorms; baking; traveling; reading; and watching funny clips on the Internet with her husband. Terrah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in English from Brigham Young University-Idaho, and she served a mission for her church to Indianapolis, Indiana. Terrah is excited for the opportunity to work with the Strathmore Children's Choir, and she looks forward to the day when her son is old enough to be part of the fun. He practices his soprano range at home daily!
